PITMAN, NJ – The American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Lou Ann Leary as its new Executive Director. She has served ANNA in multiple capacities throughout her long tenure, demonstrating steadfast dedication to the association’s mission and to advancing the specialty of nephrology nursing.

Lou Ann has held multiple leadership roles at Anthony J. Jannetti, Inc., overseeing staff and managing operations for several nursing associations. For the past 33 years, she has collaborated closely with ANNA’s chapters and committees to advance the association’s mission at the local and regional levels. She also served as ANNA's Interim Executive Director for six months, ensuring seamless leadership during a period of transition.

Most recently, Lou Ann served as Chief of Staff for ANNA, overseeing daily operations, guiding staff, setting clear performance expectations, and fostering accountability across the organization. She worked extensively with the Conferences Committee to plan high-quality educational programs for nephrology nurses, coordinating ANNA’s two national events—the National Symposium and the Nephrology Nursing Summit. She also served as a key liaison to the ANNA Board of Directors, implementing Board meetings and events, providing administrative support, and engaging with external stakeholders.

“I am deeply committed to our nephrology nurses and the exceptional care they provide to patients every day. Working alongside the ANNA President, Board of Directors, and volunteer leaders for more than 30 years has been a true privilege. As I step into the role of Executive Director, I look forward to building on ANNA’s strong foundation—strengthening programs, enhancing member engagement, and supporting the growth of the nephrology nursing profession. I am grateful for the opportunity to continue serving ANNA by partnering with the Board to advance our mission of improving the lives of those affected by kidney disease through education, advocacy, networking, and science.”
