Position: Professional Development Manager (AMSN)
Location: Pitman, NJ
Job-Type: Full Time (8:30am – 5 pm Monday - Friday)


The Professional Development Manager will be responsible for professional development programs which meet the needs of the medical-surgical nursing community, membership, and other stakeholders for one of our client nursing associations, Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses (AMSN).

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and oversee the strategies and tools to increase the professional practice of medical-surgical nurses on behalf of AMSN:

  • Manages the operations of the Professional Development programs and continuously seeks ways to improve the programs growth, revenue, and operations.
  • Develops the functional area’s budget annually in conjunction with Director, Association Services and CEO.
  • Manages service providers and subject matter experts involved in the update and development of new educational offerings (online, webinars, publications).
  • Manages AMSN existing educational programs and publications, e.g., Certification Review Course, faculty training/evaluation, Core Curriculum, Certification Review Questions, Scope and Standards, webinars, library offerings.
  • Monitors health care industry and online nursing communities for trends in topics to identify emerging educational needs for medical-surgical nurses.
  • Leverages technology and principles of adult education to develop educational offerings that meet the needs of medical-surgical nurses and health care systems.
  • Serves as the staff liaison to education-focused Volunteer Units (VU), e.g. Clinical Practice, Convention Program Planning, and external organizations.
  • Works with AJJ Education Director and the Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification Board (MSNCB) to enforce policies and procedures that maintain the accreditation of the Professional Development program’s portfolio of products.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in nursing with minimum 3-5 years of experience in an acute-care nursing environment, medical-surgical experience preferred.
  • Experience providing or developing professional development/education preferred.
  • Previous volunteer or work experience with a professional membership association.
  • Project management experience and ability to manage SMEs, volunteers and service providers.
  • Minimum of 3 years leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to make presentations.
  • Able to make independent decisions, free from immediate direction or supervision.
  • Possess a disciplined approach to solving problems that gathers sufficient information and engages all perspectives.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet applications; ability to rapidly learn new software products.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven business environment while displaying attention to detail and prioritization skills.
